The Minuteman I deal with builds Minuteman floor scrubbers, sweepers, and dust collection equipment. Two companies, one name, completely different spec sheets.
I'm a quality/compliance manager at an industrial equipment dealer. If you have dry concrete, dust, and small debris, a sweep dust collector can be the right tool. It's built to pick up what a broom would, but faster, and it captures the dust before it gets into the air. If you have oil stains or anything sticky, a sweeper isn't enough. You need a scrubber with water, detergent, and a recovery system.
A Minuteman floor scrubber can handle a lot of maintenance situations, but it's not a dust collector. Conversely, a stationary industrial dust collection system is great for controlling airborne dust at a production source—sanding, grinding, sawing—but it won't keep restroom floors clean. A 5-horsepower blower doesn't mean anything if the duct size is wrong. A bag filter that's hard to reach will be left unchanged longer than it should be, and that will cost you on energy and indoor air quality.

Step 5: Verify Parts Availability and Serviceability

Watch how the machine handles them. And talk to the person who will actually operate it. If the operator struggles with the controls, the machine will not get used the way it was designed.

If your situation involves explosion-proof environments, aggressive chemicals, or a very unusual floor layout, use these steps as a starting point, but bring in an engineer before you sign anything. There is no "best" machine. There's only the one that fits your facility, your maintenance habits, and your actual dirt.
Three Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Buying the biggest model because the price difference looks small. The larger machine's daily cost—battery charge, water, detergent, labor—is bigger, and if you don't need it, you're paying for wasted capacity.
- Forgetting the charger. You can buy a great scrubber, but if the charger isn't sized for your shift schedule, the machine will be parked waiting for a full charge.
- Using only the industrial dust collector price as the deciding factor. Duct design, filter type, dust disposal, and maintenance access are separate decisions that affect cost every month.
